I think that a number of Democrats in Congress are secretly hoping Brown will win and block the legislation so they don’t have to cast the votes themselves and face angry voters in November. The bill is so unpopular now it will be toxic to anyone who votes for it.

#4: Try once again to get moderate Maine Republican Olympia Snowe's vote.

In my opinion, that's the one most likely to succeed.

All this hinges on the victory of a RINO.

Numerous people here have referred to him as a "conservative", he's not but I still hope he wins.

Doubly so when its Ted Kennedy causing and receiving his own payback. There is a God...there can no longer be doubt.

Waiter, I'll have Option #5, with a side of #5, an Option #5 salad with 5-Seasons dressing, and a can of #5-Up.

And, could you have that wonderful and polite black waiter serve it? I think his name was Bartack or Borak or Barak something....?

It is time for a little reality to smash the democrats right in their faces. America does not want this bill that they have been feverishly working to ram down our throats for nearly a year now. It is dead and they’ve wasted a whole year on a dead bill. Americans are very angry that they have stood by and watched as the economy crumbled and did nothing bt help it to do just that.I hope on Tuesday night they all figure out that their futures will probably not be spent in DC

Because someone on here, in the know, mentioned that the bill would need to be passed piecemeal. Some of it would need 51 votes, some 60, and parts would expire with the budget it has to be attached to. It is not a good option for anything complicated, apparantly.

The Democrats actually have an excellent option.

No offense, but Democrats want health care as a way to control people, not to make them healthy. If they really reform health care they will lose it as an issue, and therefore as a means of control.

Its totalitarianism or nothing with them.

But then they would look like they wasted the majority of legislative time and energy in 2009 and had to start over. In a year when unemployment was going up month to month. It would document their foolishness.

They only option that they have is for the house to pass the bill that made it through the senate. But to do that they have to hose the unions with the tax on high cost plans that was in the original bill. Also the abortion thing is in there. I don’t think the house Dems are going to fall on the sword.

In other words, the Dems are up s*** creek without a paddle. But they made that bed that is full of fleas and ticks and they can just lie and suffer in it.

What is your plan for winning a Senate seat if not a RINO in MA?

Yep, they aren’t considering the political fallout if Brown wins the “Ted Kennedy” seat. If this happens, it could influence some Democrats to abandon this bill. And it could influence some other Democrats that the political climate has changed, and cause some to decide to retire rather than face the voters in Nov. 2010.

I’ve wondered about that myself. They know it won’t solve anything they know it is too expensive and what better way to kill it than to blame it on a Republican?

Reconciliation is for budget/revenue legislation. Key provisions in the RAT healthcare bill (like the individual mandate) are not about the federal budget/revenue and therefore cannot be passed this way. IOW, a bill done this way would be full of holes.

A sunset clause generally applies to bills passed this way. So the law would be temporary, like the Bush tax cuts.

It won’t work IMHO.

I would like to see the Democrats abandon this particular bill, and do what you suggest. I think it’s unlikely, but that would be a good approach. Let’s study the issues and put together ideas. Let’s not rush to pass a bill. Contrary to the spin, Republicans would like to be involved, as many Republicans see problems with healthcare and would like to see changes too. These hearings on C-Span might not get a big audience, but this is what they should have done to start with.

I wonder how many liberals/Democrats are upset with the whole process of how this bill has been put together.

Doncha love it, when the diabolical machinations of evil doers come back and bits them in the butt?

Yup, see also how the ALMIGHTY seems to delight at mocking the AGW Global Warming idiots - everytime they have a meeting to spread their lies the weather suddenly goes into a huge dump and they freezes their a$$es off!!
