Did this line get much MSM media play? (I don’t have TV; I only heard the line on Fred Thompson’s podcast).

I agree, there are certain defining moments in every campaign and this was his.

I think you’re exactly correct, this line won him the race. It put the Democrats in an untenable position. To shut Brown out, they needed high D turnout, which in a special election meant stirring up their base. But to stir up their base, they had to keep talking about “Kennedy’s seat”—and every single time they said that, they reminded voters of Brown’s line. And even if the Democrats had avoided the line, the media kept referring to “Kennedy’s seat,” because that’s the big news hook for this race.

Just an absolutely brilliant line. I look forward to the book about Brown’s campaign, to find out how much of this was him versus his campaign manager, how much was planned versus impromptu.
