This clip from this morning’s Morning Joe is currently making the rounds due to Peggy Noonan’s remark that today’s Mass. special election GOP candidate Scott Brown is popular because he “looks like an American” (which is not the full quote, though she doesn’t exactly redeem herself either). Actually, Noonan’s remark may be the least offensive to come out of this morning’s chat session on the subject; Donny Deutsch thinks the fact Brown not black or a woman may offer a “visceral comfort” to voters. The more things change, etc.
“We’re going back to basics, we’ve obviously had our first African American president we’ve had the female candidates and whatnot [and whatnot!] you look at him he looks like the candidate, the traditional view of the candidate, and is there a visceral comfort in that for people? I’m just curious from real kind of sociological point of view.”
Ah yes! The sociological point of view! Read: are people less scared because he’s white. Peggy Noonan can actually be heard disagreeing with Deutsch in the background before she goes on to note that Brown does mark a change in the voting habits of a Massachusett because he looks like “a new sort of Republican…he’s a regular guy who looks like an American from the middle, or self-made into a middle class, upper middle class guy…we’re seeing some evolution of what Republicans in Mass are right now.”
So basically a bunch of white people spent part of their morning remarking on how safe and attractive a Republican candidate is. Also, Mike Barnicle thinks Coakley is reminiscent of your least favorite substitute school teacher. Video below.

Deutsch is a pretty boy who thinks he’s smart also. He takes himself too seriously without stopping to look for any insight into his lightweight superficiality.

Amusing watching these clueless talking heads grasping at straws to explain dem defeat. Last night I watched Maddow say that Coakley lost because MA voters hate women...yeah, right, the first woman elected as atty general in MA, where she beat a white dude, giving him a thumping by winning with 73% of the vote. Yeah, MA voters hate women. Right.
They just don’t get it...
I sent money to Brown on Dec 31st after I saw thread on FR about his candidacy. I hadn’t even heard much about the race, period, prior to that. I forwarded the link to his campaign website to a few like-minded people and encouraged them to contribute if they could and to forward the link to others. I am sure that simple action was duplicated thousands of times over by Americans in the days prior to yesterday’s vote. People are fed up and were happy to support Brown, who emerged as a possible brake man on the Reid-Pelosi-Obama train hurtling the country toward this deeply flawed health care scheme, higher taxes, and a whole host of left-wing idiot causes.
The other thing that cracked me up yesterday: some media nut said that Brown’s victory was not a landslide, that it was not a mandate. Um, hello, in a state where only about 12% of the population are registered pubbies, I’d say this was a pretty big message.

Hey I went to the U of Minnesota Twin Cities. However, I never ever proclaimed I was a vegetarian. I was also only an undergrad, and I was never ever that desperate for female companionship.

I used to work with a guy, now in his 40s, and though I haven’t seen him in years, I was told he talks-the-talk like that trying to hit on lib chicks half his age. He even volunteered in ‘08 for the Leader with that intent.
Voters are comforted by the fact that unlike his opponent, Brown is not a raving communist. It’s that simple.
Oh, they get it, they just aren’t going to admit it. They still think they are in total control of what the people of the USA think. The internet changed that and will continue to do so as long as we elect the most conservative candidates we can find(Brown will do for Mass, he is far above anyone coming out of that state for many years).
Actually I think Marcia Croakley is a very attractive woman. It’s just that her politics is (are?) ugly.
Still all in all it IS nice to see a white man being promoted. I am tired of every other color of skin under the sun being pushed at me from every angle of my life. It’s nice to see someone my own color! I am white and I am proud!

The Democrats voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker because she was white, rather than for Harold Ford, Jr., because they were more comfortable with a white person in charge. Likewise they put in Harry Reid as Majority Leader in the Senate in 2007 when Obama was available. Hypocrites.

Why we respect the PHDs is a mystery to me, this kid was pure hack, a stereotype of bad attitude and condescension. But if you ask these mopes any decent question the aura dissapates.
The white libs kids are just that, the very smart who never outgrow their freshman year of college. Some even go onto being PHDs, the Mommy Professor Priests of “liberalism.” That is DailyKos in a nutshell, the very “smart” kids who have never grown up, stuck in the same mud their professors dumped them in many years ago, but they are very literate.
