I think it was a silly inside-the-family joke, "Marry my daughter, somebody, please" kind of thing. I admit I found it jarring. I'll bet he wishes he had said "eligible" instead of "available."
But if she's an athlete with enough guts to sing on American Idol, she's not afraid of some clowning. She certainly is striking in appearance.
