'Sarkozy: Israel may act against Iran' (France has "proof" of Iran Nuke Program)
Jerusalem Post ^ | 1/23/2010 | Staff

French President Nicolas Sarkozy assessed that Israel "would not stand by while Iran develops nuclear weapons," Al Hayat quoted sources close to the French leader on Saturday.

"Israel might take action to prevent the Iranian regime, which wants to wipe it off the map of the world, from obtaining a nuclear bomb," Sarkozy reportedly explained to visiting Lebanese Prime Minister Sa'ad Hariri.

According to Saturday's report in the London-based Arab daily, Sarkozy told Hariri that France had proof that Teheran was working to develop a nuclear bomb.

The Jerusalem Post could not confirm the report.

In related news, Sarkozy called Friday for harsh sanctions against the Islamic republic to pressure Teheran to enter negotiations over its nuclear program.

"France wants the [UN Security] Council to adopt strong measures and for the European Union as well to assume its responsibilities," Reuters quoted Sarkozy as telling diplomats based in France.

"Despite all our efforts, and a new engagement by the United States, and despite our ambitious proposals for cooperation, the Iranian authorities are blocked in a one-way street of proliferation and radicalism," the French president reportedly asserted.

Sarkozy no longer believes that the US is determined to oppose the Iranian nuclear weapons program.

Can you really blame him?

Sarkozy had Zero’s number long before the average American voter.

The Kenyan who finds the "Call to Prayer" as "the most beautiful sound on earth" is not likely have the back side of the Jews, unless it is to kick it.

The whole world has proof. THe very idea Iran needs a neutron deflector for their power plant is ridiculous. they do not use this in nuclear power plant designs, they add or remove control rods from the stack. A ‘neutron deflector’ is used explicitly inside a nuclear bomb in order to prevent the bomb from accidentally going critical.

And unfortunatel it will make all our wallets empty. WWIII begins and the price of oil hits over $1000 a barrel at first, and then starts climbing.

Buckle up.

I didn't see anything about a neutron deflector within the Sarkozy piece; did I miss it, or can you provide me with another link? It's the first I've heard of Iran wanting one --and will allow me to shut up the libs at work who stil believe Iran.

Cheers!

I agree with you. Many folks better pray nothing stupid happens during winter. LOTS of folk will be without heat in the U.S. and we will have no way of back filling that volume domestically with our friendly neighborhood enciro-nazi’s at the helm.

No we don't...not under Hussein.Under W that would be true but Hussein and his Maoist pals would most certainly leave Israel out to dry.Which,IMO,isn't a deal breaker because the IDF can take care 'o biz all by itself.

I don't believe we will see a "ramp up" from Israel. We will wake up one morning and the damage will have been done.
Due to the state of technology today, my bets are on a spectacular, crippling strike with a harsh warning that the big toys go into play next.
Israel has finite resources, including her soldiers. I think Israel is one tough country, but facing facts, a long or even medium war would deplete Israel's resources very quick.
