I think our paper is going to avoid anything negative about Tebow - the Senior Bowl is a sellout for the first time in a while and they want to make sure everyone shows up!
His politico-religious stance is very similar to that of two of the best NFL quarterbacks - the Manning brothers. They take snaps from under center and ignore the defensive rush.
Hate him? Maybe some fans or coaches of teams he beat (there were a lot of those) might dislike that he beat them, but hate him........not. I haven't heard much other than respect from those who have played his teams.
One Niner fan to another: You and me both!
As a fellow Niners fan I completely agree with you. They screwed up bigtime by selecting Alex Smith over Aaron Rogers.
Questions about his ability to become a first tier quarterback in the NFL have been dogging him for years now. Well before most of the world knew about his politics.
I have not heard many football pundits calling him a future qb star in the nfl, have you?
I have heard much speculation about him becoming a receiver, something that happens to a few qbs coming out of college. Of course, they weren’t Heisman trophy, national championship quarterbacks, but quarterbacks all the same.
Tim is the Sarah Palin of football. You betcha. Give him a chance and he’ll produce.
Hopefully Tim doesn’t screw up by endorsing McCain.
Case in point (although not a QB):
Chris Spielman, driving force (along with Barry Sanders) of the Lion's early 90's "revival".
Naw. It has to do with the fact that quarterbacks that thrive in spread offenses tend not to be top tier pro prospects.
If you watched the Senior Bowl last year, Pat White went through the same controversy, even though he probably ended up doing better overall (he was MVP) than Tebow looks like he will do at this point.
Comes with the territory. Pat stuck it out and ended up getting drafted as a QB. Depending on how much work Tebow is willing to do, the same might be true for him.
Even so, there is still controversy swirling around White’s decision to remain at quarterback instead of converting to wide receiver.
Getting clocked by Ike Taylor and coming out with a nasty concussion versus the Steelers probably didn’t help Pat much either.
I think Tebow is getting the Rush Limbaugh treatment.
The Hill’s sports reporter is reporting he has very bad table manners.
Tony Dungy, Jim Kelly, and a few others have said Tebow is worthy of a 1st round selection. I’ll take the word of those who actually participated in the NFL over those who observe it from a desk and TV.
You can criticize Tebow’s mechanics, or the fact that he takes snaps from the shotgun, and you can call the Florida offense “gimmick”, but all he does is win - more wins than anyone in the toughest conference in the Country, The SEC.
This kid will be a great teammate in the locker room. He's a team player and may end up being a running back or receiver if asked. Or a wildcat QB. Big market for that nowadays.
I adored Spielman as a player. I admire him as a man. Football needs more like him.
I think Tim will make a fine NFL player, but as a receiver instead of a qb. I like the idea of him in the slot, poised to go strong over the middle. At 6’3’ 240 lbs, he could be a monster tight end as well.
Danny Wuerfful won a lot at UF, too.

You and me both. But we still get to have our own ideas and thoughts, hopefully. And the ability to communicate them.
