“Who said that?”

How else are we to interpret comments like this?:

“What good does it do, to replace Barbara Boxer with a male version?”

“Tom Campbell is a Babs Boxer CLONE.”

“...let’s promote a Lefty to run against a Lefty trick...”

This is California. And yes, I’d love to have the most conservative representative win. But if Campbell wins the primary, your (not yours personally, Falcon) idiotic hyperbole will insure that her highness will continue to take the entire country into the fiscal abyss.

Issues that Tom Campbell would be a “No” vote whereas Boxer would be a “Yes”:

Universal Healthcare
Cap & Trade
More Stimulus
Deceptive Anti-jobs legislation
Reduced military funding
Reduced national security
Illegal Immigration/Amnesty
Water rationing in central CALIFORNIA

I ask you, are these not the most important issues facing the United States today?

Having Tom Campbell as a California Senator would be LIGHT YEARS better than “Mamm” Boxer. And right now, it looks like a good possibility. GET REAL, FOLKS!

If Campbell wins the Primary, Republicans will fall in line like we always do and vote for the lesser of two evils, of couse. I just believe 2010 is the year for conservatives to win in traditionally blue Democrat states. I'm pulling for the conservative Devore to win in the primaries, and so should all conservative Freepers.

I’ve heard a friendly connection between Sami Al-Arian and Campbell.

Well Debbie Schlussel sure thinks it's a problem. To what extent it truly is, I do not know.

I lost track of him and discontinued our exchanges after 2002 when he went to UC to be Dean of the Haas school of Business. In the debates I've had with him, I found him principled and accessible although we had substantive disagreements that left him on the side of government v liberty (which should be a cause for concern). So I don't know about his recent behavior.

IIRC, Campbell is a "practicing" Catholic, and has a soft spot for those he perceives as down-trodden. If he was pro-jihadi, why was he against the war in Kosovo? If he was gutless, why was he in the forefront of taking on Clinton? So I don't think it is a pre-disposition toward terrorists or Islamists that drives these affiliations as much as it is his liberal take on what he perceives to be social justice issues such as the plight of the Palestinians on the West Bank. He could well harbor a subtle cultural undercurrent of anti-Semitism, but I can't say much there as the subject of Israel never entered our conversations. My exchanges with him were mainly on the topic of Constitutional law and economics where he is well versed and will admit to being persuaded in debate. IMO, he did about as good a job as Republican Congressman could be expected to do in Silicon Valley in most respects (the legislature did have to gerrymander the district to cut him out for Anna Eschoo). California Journal rated him the Best Problem Solver in the State Senate, the Most Ethical State Senator, and the overall Best State Senator.

Based upon my experience with him, I try to correct the vitriol toward the man which I think he usually doesn't deserve, but I just do not know about this thing with the Islamists. In any case, and just to be clear, I will be supporting De Vore against him. If Campbell wins the primary, I'd probably vote for him, but I can't say that about Fiorina.

The Boxer race being competitive is the good news. The bad news, Campbell is a liberal.

I am not sure, I’ve heard he is but then that could all be rumors. Or more maybe he was considering it.

If I still lived in CA, I would oppose Campbell in the primary, and I’m pretty tolerant of RINO’s in liberal constituancies (for legislative posts, far less to for executive).

If Campbell does win the primary, I’d really have to hold my nose to support him in the general. Still, anything to get rid of Barbara Boxer.

He’s no conservative. Heiss you may be thinking of current Orange County Congressman JOHN Campbell.

Socially Tom is VERY liberal.

He has a rep as a fiscal conservative (but he did call for a temp tax hike in Cali) and says he’s against illegal immigration.

His lifetime American Conservative Union Congressional Vote Rating score is 54% conservative. 64% for his last 4 years in office. (he left congress and later returned)

I’m not a fan of Carly! but she’s probably a little better.

DeVore is the conservative but’s way behind the other 2 in the primary polling though he’s also competitive in polling against Boxer. According to this article he trails her by 8, same as Carly.

If I lived in Cali I’d vote DeVore in the primary and anyone in the general to get rid of Boxer. I wish a top tier conservative or moderate-to-conservative would enter the race.
