Excellent point!
And in that same vein, the Pastor of my church here in San Diego has called for the congregation to pray for the first forty days of this year ('Praying Our Way In To 2010') on a number of pressing issues, including the devastation of Haiti, Proposition 8, and projects going on in the church. We are given the weekly prayer list via email.
Well, in today's prayer was the President and the protection of his family. Of course the Word does call for us to pray for our leaders (I Timothy 2:2,3), but I had to confess to the Lord while I do not wish any harm upon him or Michelle and their children, I did note I do not support him or his policies.
Hi Kimberly, I agree. I pray for the president, too, even though I don’t agree with him! Bible says to pray for “all those in authority,” not just Republicans. I make my husband do it too, even though he grumbles a bit. :-) (jk, he does it sincerely.)
I’m torn about the faith-based initiative. Like the Cato guy said, it’s increasing the size of the gov. And do religious charities really need help from Big Brother?? But, like Michael Medved said on this issue, if the gov gives to secular charities, it has to give to religious ones, too, or it’s discrimination. So I’m torn. Eeek! ;-)
Ooops, sorry, meant that for TLady. I saw “Kimberly” at the top and forgot that that’s the To person!
