WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- The United States has speeded movement of anti-missile defenses to the Persian Gulf to put pressure on Iran, government officials say.
Four countries in the region have accepted U.S. missile defense systems, and Aegis cruisers have been deployed, The New York Times reported Saturday. The move began under President George W. Bush but has recently been accelerated by President Obama.
Gen. David Petraeus, head of U.S. Central Command, discussed the deployment in a rare public forum at the Institute for the Study of War in Washington on Jan. 22. He did not name the countries but said each now has two Patriot missile batteries.

Patriot PAC-3 SAM batteries are being deployed in the Middle East against Iranian missiles such as the Shahab series.

Might be good for our friends in the Middle East and Europe, but I’d bet the launch platform to watch for will be on a freighter, now farther out to sea...

Iran’s second thought is to refine its own oil but can primarily gear up for nuke processing and supply arms to whomever while suppressing their people in the streets. A defensive ring around’em should show’em who’s boss. Any do-it-or-else deadlines about to expire will be extended indefinitely to really make’em sweat.

That was what I first envisioned.
Here's a scenario: The Iranians would covertly purchase several Chinese freighters, take them to a shipyard disguised as a fisheries port and modify the freighters to carry six Shahab missiles each, along with liquid propellant storage tanks.
When they are ready, the Iranian missile freighters would be deployed to the following strategic locations:
Upon reaching these locations, they should be intercepted at all costs before the mullahs give to order to fuel the nuke-tipped missiles and fire them at U.S., British, Israeli and Gulf Arab cities.

Maybe this is what 41 and 43 went to the WH to talk to zero about? “Get off your dead, dumb ass and corral Iran. If Israel falls, you’re in deep $#!+ and so is this country. Like it or not, just do it, you dumb, weak, commie f\/(k!”

Put this one in your arsenal of snappy comebacks the next time a lib says "It's Bush's fault."< just come back with, "Then way is obama continuing all of George Bush's policies?".

Iran would find a way to create submerged city killing mines, a device that is attached to a vessel like a limpet, the vessel(s) dock in major port of the US, they drop a nuclear underwater mine in a harbor secretly, these devices can be lead shielded and could be set in place right now and we would not know it.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain.
US military sources confirm that Washington plans to treble the 10,000-strong US troop contingent, already present in Saudi Arabia for guarding its oil fields and port facilities against medium or short-range Iranian missile attack, or sabotage by Hizballah marine units trained for their mission by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Israel will be taking out the trash in Iran soon, and the US is just covering their butts just in case one of those missiles comes their way.

I would hope they weren't that polite to Zero. Besides, the wise boys and girls on the left have been telling us since Ronald Reagan that anti-missile defenses don' work; Star Wars is just a movie.
This is just another imperialistic move by the overtly right wing 0bama, following in Bush's foot steps.

My son recd notice he may be deployed to Kuwait. They said maybe next year. He is Navy reserve after 4 yrs Navy. Think this is why? He is finishing 4th yr ASU for Officers Training now. should I worry
To: Smokin' Joe
Hate to say it, but the US missles are obsolete. Israel will be forced to deal with the Iranian threat very soon, and they will.

U.S. Patriot-3 missiles obsolete ?
Now ... THAT's a great joke ... with Iran to be the punch line ...
Make sure that you check your technical specifications ... before making remarks like that ... just a suggestion.

Given procurement timelines, I would think most military equipment is obsolete before it’s even fielded, let alone after a few years of service. Patriot development first started in 1976 and it was deployed in 1984, and the pace of technological advance has only multiplied since then.
