To: ASA Vet

I was (briefly) in a “Little John” missile battalion in Okinawa that was DS to the 173d Abn Brigade in pre-VN days. It, too was nuclear-capable, and awfully small — smaller even than the existing 8” howitzer nuke round. The Japanese were very uncomfortable having us there, (even tho the Ryukyu Islands were still under US stewardship,) and they made us do our range firing in Korea — a two-day trip in an LST.

Oh, and BTW, our compound on Okinawa was directly adjacent to the huge ASA antenna farm known as Torii Station! Nice setup you guys had! We were in Quanset huts on the beach!
