It’s easier. Back and forth between consonants and vowels is easier to pronounce than two consonants together and then two vowels.
OK, I’ll buy that. I tried saying both and can’t discern that it’s true, but you could be right. So now explain why Obama does those sibilant “s” sounds. Very annoying.
