The neurobiologist accused of killing three colleagues at the University of Alabama, Huntsville, on Friday was also a suspect in a 1993 mail bombing plot against a Harvard Medical School professor, the Boston Globe quoted law enforcement official as saying Sunday.
Amy Bishop was questioned along with her husband, James Anderson, after two 6-inch pipe bombs were sent to the Newton, Mass., home of Dr. Paul Rosenberg. While opening the package, the doctor saw the wires and a cylinder and fled the house.
The Globe said investigators searched Dr. Bishops and Mr. Andersons home, but the United States Attorneys office did not seek any charges against them, and no one was ever charged in the case.
Early Saturday, the police in Huntsville charged the neurobiologist Dr. Bishop, 45, with capital murder in the shootings Friday that also left three people wounded during a faculty meeting. Dr. Bishop, who appeared to have had a promising future in the biotechnology business, had recently been told she would not be granted tenure, university officials said.
The revelation about the 1993 plot came after word that Dr. Bishop was linked to another death. On Saturday afternoon, the police in Braintree, Mass., announced that 24 years ago, Dr. Bishop had fatally wounded her brother, Seth Bishop, in an argument at their home, which The Boston Globe first reported on its Web site. The police were considering reopening the case, in which Dr. Bishop was not charged and the report by the officer on duty at the time was no longer available, said Paul Frazier, the Braintree police chief.

This looks like a job for...CAPTAIN AMERICA!!! Oh...he’s busy right now..?
I bet he announces his retirement. I think he has said he is considering it.
Well,at least we can take solace from the fact that, unlike many states,Alabama knows how to deal with cold blooded multiple murderers.
The youngest is an eight year old boy.
Ah...one error in my comment. That was occupational therapy—not rehab. ...long time ago.
The smell would be a deal breaker if was there
I hear ya... Good account
The NYT style guide, unlike AP, requires the use of Mr, Mrs, Ms, Dr, etc in every reference.
With a shotgun.
The lake, the tub ... Susan Smith, Andrea Yates. You only hurt the one’s you love is the theme.
Who is sicker, she or the parents who raised that demon.
Care to start a thread with some of those tips for the rest of us, most of us haven’t had the benefit of any computer classes.....It would be a big service to FR, and to America.
You only hurt the ones you love is the theme.......
So perceptive! I was thinking of Andrea Yates when I posted that
“She goes against type. With this kind of loon you think no children, maybe a lesbian, or at most one child”
You have GOT to be kidding.
Delahunt dropped the charges for shooting her brother. But it says that the U.S. Attorney dropped the charges for trying to blow up the professor. That would have been the new clinton appointee, and the BATF.
elaborate
No - no one is kidding - this is entirely against type. Quite aside from the fact that a series of violent firearms offences - and a possible bombing - are by far more common among men than women - her being in a stable marriage and having 4 children is unusual for high-achieving academic women, unusual for people who can’t relate to others (she is described as having symptoms like asperger’s syndrome), unusual for violent offenders ... Unusual all around.
And I think that someone had better check other aspects of Amy’s past. Have there been a series of unexplained deaths?
