I believe that a couple of counties in our area pay whackos to go out and check garbage to see if people are obeying the complicated what should be thrown away and the various recycling schemes.
>> David Roberts, for instance, writing in the Huffington Post, argues that “the ad only makes sense if it is aimed at people that acknowledge the moral authority of the green police.”
The ad makes sense regardless of the viewer. For those that want to submit to green fascism, it’s gratifying. To the rest, it’s an omen that depicts a dangerous collaboration of govt, commerce, and green fanatics.
>> Mark Steyns mind can only operate on one channel at a time, thus he fails to fully absorb the message.
Can you explain his failure in the context of the ad?
I loved my Mustang 5.0 (which was really a 4.9 but who's counting), but I love not having a car payment even more.
I'll buy again in a few years, but for now, I have two vehicles in the stable and both are paid for. I intend to get my money's worth out of them.
Well, I'm not buying one. If I decide to buy a Diesel, it will be a Volkswagen (unless the UAW infects the new plant they're building in Chattanooga). But I'm more inclined to stick to gasoline engines. And especially gasoline engines that tick off the GBTs (green booted thugs).
This would inspire me to put a capsicain injection system on my lawn sprinkler. I would wait up all night to get a chance to blast pepper spray-laden water on the greenies.
The ad was doing two things at once.
1. Selling cars to their most likely market (enviro-nuts)
2. Pointing out the outrageousness of environmentalism and its violation of rights, in a not-too-subtile way.
Audi is manufactured by Volkswagen.
Actually, the drivers are responsible for doing that.
The Mustang v8 is 5.0 liters when expressed to two significant figures (4.993 = 5.0)
The Mustang V8 used up until 1995 model year, according to Chiltons' Auto Repair Manual, was 4949 cc, or 4.949 L which rounds off to 4.9 liters. Car and Driver reports the displacement as 4942 cc in their March, 2010 issue.
The new 5.0 engine (New for 2011 model year), according to Car and Driver Magazine, displaces 4951 cc or 4.951 L and can truly be called a 5.0.
Regardless, I really loved my 1990 5.0. In its day, it was about the most acceleration you could get on 4 wheels at that price.
OOps - never mind.
Then I guess I may consider buying something related to an Audi some day. :-)

One of our younger relatives lives in one of these eco spy communities where the garbage is/was inspected. One of his neighbors saw a guy going through his garbage containers by the street for pickup. The guy had garbage up and down the street and in the neighbor’s yard. The neighbor had his wife go out and take pictures of what was happening.
The green A$$hole started to charge the guy’s wife while yelling at her. That was the wrong move as the homeowner wrestled in highschool and played highschool and collegiate defensive football. He planted the asshole about 3” deep in his lawn and had his wife call 911. The cops took the ecobastard in and later released him with apologies to the homeowner.
Shortly after that the good family moved out of state to get away from this bs.
