Why would Kudlow challenge Schumer when he could cream Gillibrand??

1. Pataki might already be lined up to declare. Pataki has not declined to run as far as I know.

2. Because Gillibrand’s seat goes on-cycle in 2012, so the winner immediately goes back to re-election mode. NY is a expensive and demanding place to run a state-wide election. I can see why it might be daunting to have to do it twice in 2 years. Pataki has overwhelming state-wide name recongition and is still popular upstate so he would have a much easier time than any other GOP candidate besides Giuliani. If Larry Kudlow beats Schumer he’s in for six.
