Restaurant owner Tamyra d'Ippolito (D) has enough signatures to make the ballot in the race to replace Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN), she told Hotline OnCall in a brief interview, but an official in a key district says she has failed to reach the threshold.
An official in Marion Co. (IN) tells Hotline OnCall d'Ippolito turned in just 3 signatures in the 7th CD, the district with the highest percentage of Dem voters. The noon deadline has passed, meaning d'Ippolito failed to meet the requirements to get on the ballot. She would have been required to submit 4,500 signatures, including at least 500 from each of the state's 9 districts.
Fun while it lasted.
Good point! I have felt from the beginning there was more than meets the eye here.
One thing interesting about Bayh. He is to the left what McCain is to the right, although not as "effective." McCain unfortunately has gotten some of his legislation through, Bayh has not.
Hotline is a liberal publication. “One key official” in the 7th is not conclusive. Yet.
I’d say this is headed to the courtoom. Is the Secretary of State in Indiana a Democrat?
I read somewhere yesterday that he is a republican, and a stickler for the law.
Well, you’re right about that. And from what I’ve been hearing today, it seems that he was indeed rolled by Reid.
