This was easily predicted. In fact I did so myself a couple of days ago.

The choice for the EU countries was either to continue to pour good money after bad down the Greek rat hole or assume fiscal control of the Greek government. I called the later a "fiscal invasion" of Greece. I still think that fits. This article uses the term suzerainty. That's a new one for me and I assume most Freepers but if Wikipedia has heard of it then it must be a real word.

It is a real word, and if you had a chance to take some history courses in college you would have come across it. It is not as overarching as saying the EU is sovereign over Greece, but suzerainty does imply a significant loss of independence.

It is amazing that this Lisbon "Treaty" rammed down the throats of Europeans includes such a provision. I am curious what else is in that document.
