LITERALLY countdown has started..........yesterday I counted 17 before giving up.

I’m sure you’re aware that it’s not technically a countdown if you are merely counting the number of times something is said. Literally, countdown is defined as: “the backward counting in fixed time units from the initiation of a project, as a rocket launching, with the moment of firing designated as zero.” Perhaps, you mean “count” instead of “countdown”.
