Yes, it was a good for MeCain decision. His credentials wouldn’t stand up, so he needed desperately to borrow the credentials of someone else.
It baffles me to see folks think he was doing Palin a favor in 2008. No. HELL NO! He was doing himself a favor folks.
I don’t call him MeCain for no good reason. Without Palin he gets something like 30% of the vote, wins possibly one state, and goes down in history as the cantankerous old two-face sell-out (of Conservatives and Conservatism) prune that he is.
John is the adult version of a high school student who has burnt all his bridges at an early age. He’s well known, but he’s a canker sore socially. Then he loses his drivers license, and is on foot. What to do?
John finds some kid that isn’t well known, that has a nice car and offers to befriend him. Of course the kid thinks this is a great offer. Here’s a guy well known by the student body. What a lucky break.
So John gets a free ride wherever he wants to go. He has an instant connection to a more decent group of people, and suddenly looks like a great guy.
After six months, John gets his license back, and the new friend is jettisoned. Not a call, no messages, John is history. He’s back in big with his old set of friends, other consummate losers.
Twelve months later John’s got big plans for something, and he needs the kid he jettisoned. And every describes this as the other kid owing John.
