clearly not a conservative gathering

When Romney beats Palin, then the movement has been co-opted.

What a sham!

FWIW the guy who runs Western CPAC was a big supporter of Arlen Specter.

“clearly not a conservative gathering”

It takes a large segment of people voting to get a representative straw poll, it takes only one, or at worst a few, progressive operatives posing as conservatives to cause false results to be reported for the poll.

Progressive say and do ANYTHING that forwards their ultimate cause every stinking day in this country.

Wrong conclusion. When Romney beat Palin, someone clearly showed up with their supporters and someone didn't. On the surface it shouldn't bode all that bad for Palin but I think it is bad for her - she should (needs to) have more "reflexive" support than that to win the GOP nomination.

Ron Paul was just sheer force of grassroots however.
