Recently a caller to a local talk show was defending his dramatically different remuneration as a state govt employee by saying that since they are using technology, they are more productive then employees used to be. The host never mentioned that the number of state govt employees has increased, not decreased, with all this 'productivity improvement.'
I am sure that I was listening to the employees union talking points. They have to be feeling defensive about the shift in earnings averages towards govt employees, away from private employees.
If the private world has 20% unemployment the public should have 25%. They are not more important or easier to fire for owners than private.
