Meet kinder, gentler Glenn Beck: New 'global warming' believer
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | February 22, 2010

While polls show more people drifting away from acceptance of "global warming," the newest superstar among conservatives – Glenn Beck – is embracing it.

"You'd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change," he says. He also thinks it could be caused by man's activity.

At home, he's going green by using energy-saving products.

"I'm willing to do anything but use the CFLs," he says of compact fluorescent light bulbs. "I put them in once and couldn't stand the way they lit up the room."

The kinder, gentler, greener and warmer side of Beck, known as a firebrand conservative, came to light in an interview in USA Weekend.

Beck also has lots of friends on the other side of the political spectrum, he reveals. He calls George Clooney "a good, honest man." Beck says the two of them had an extended conversation about the genocide in Darfur.

"We came to an immediate, completely wholehearted agreement about the situation," Beck says. "That is, to put aside the politics and give troops what they need to protect people over there. He's a good, honest man who believes passionately about doing something about it."

Beck's personal publicist, Matt Hiltzik, is a Democratic power player who helped get Hillary Rodham Clinton elected to the U.S. Senate, says the magazine report.

The last time he sued someone he got beat up for being petty. I’m sure it would be the same in this case.

I watch his show enough to know its crap and that’s enough for me. Geeze the earth day breaking of the CFL bulb told me all I needed to know.

Here is exactly what the USweekend quoted:
He believes in global warming “You’d be an idiot not to notice the temperature change,” he says. He also says there’s a legit case that global warming has, at least in part, been caused by mankind. He has tried to do his part by buying a home with a “green” design and using energy-saving products. “I’m willing to do anything but use the CFLs,” he says of compact fluorescent light bulbs. “I put them in once and couldn’t stand the way they lit up the room.”

Then on Glenns radio show he said this:
PAT: The CFLs, the compact fluorescent? GLENN: Yeah, there's no way I put those fluorescent light bulbs in my house. I hate them. And then there was something else that was weird in it that, you know, ten things that you never thought you'd hear from Glenn Beck. STU: Yeah, interesting read anyway. There was a lot of good stuff in there. PAT: Yeah, I thought it was really good.

First off the USweekend article already shows him saying he doesnt us CFLs. That is the only thing Glenn had to say about it on his show. I dont understand why he wouldnt have been like "What are they thinking! I have a "green" home and believe man is to blame in part for global warming. What a joke." But he did not say that. He only clarified the issue of the CFLs. Which is already reflected in the orginal article anyway. Also as I mentioned in this post he also gives money to liberal groups because he matches his staffs donations. What your a champion for conservatism yet you give money to lib and progressive groups? really Glenn? Im sorry Freepers that is a joke to me. On this I have yet to see Glenn deny this in the article. If these things are not true. Glenn needs to state it clearly.

I’ve never seen anyone that can illustrate the dangers of leftism like Glenn Beck. He’s absolutely devastating on TV and has the left scrambling for cover.

All I ask is that Beck ‘check his fire’ every once in while. Make sure he’s not killing the good guys ;)

"They called Bish Hitler a lot and I guess since he didn’t sue..."

Legally speaking, there's a world of difference characterizing a public figure, and putting words in their mouth. In fact, the 1st Amendment protects your right (and the right of publishers) to call Bush, and virtually every other public figure whatever name you like - Hitler, racist, homophobe, antisemitic, whatever. BUT, they can't say George Bush said, "Black people are N*****s." That would be libel, if Bush didn't say it, and if USA Today couldn't prove Bush said it.

Even with the application of the public figure doctrine, publishers can't intentionally misquote public figures without reprisal in the form of a defamation suit, or so held the Supreme Court in Masson.

When an unflattering quote comes out about someone, anyone, they all say, "I was misquoted". Everyone does it. The people who were actually misquoted take legal action if a retraction/correction isn't printed. In fact, that's why newspapers print retractions/corrections.

If Beck doesn't sue, then it tells me his protestations ring hollow.

I agree. He’s making more progress in destroying the left than anyone has in a long time. It’s interesting reading the somewhat ‘more recent posters’ sounding like the sky is falling at this fake news.

Astroturfing, anyone?

oh please.

One of his first shows on FNC he wore a hazmat suit and broke a CFL bulb. Now if you want to think he loves CFL bulbs go ahead. He has thoroughly denounced the AGW hoax on his show many times, but if it makes you feel better to think he really believes it true, thats your right.

Everything I have seen and heard tells me the paper was wrong. If the paper said the moon was purple I wouldn’t tell myself it must be true or the moon would sue.

The media in this country lies all the time. I just a TV news report totally linking the IRS plane bomber to the “Tea party movement”. I happen to know they are lying through their teeth, but they can say whatever they want.

They’ll run a tiny correction on some page of their website and it’ll be done.

Oh, please. Your little truth test rings hollow. As another poster said, Beck has the left's panties in a major twist. He's smeared right and left several times a day in all types of media, including right here on FR. You think he's gonna waste his time suing USA Today? His time is better spent exposing the truth of the 0bama administration and the left in general.

Guys, some of you are buying a load.

Read Becks Book, listen to the daily TV program daily for a while.

He sometimes says things in a mocking “Yeah sure” mode.

This is definitely a hit job. Probably over Beck’s failure to endorse the WND birther campaign.

As to Palin, I saw Becks Palin interview and he didn’t mistreat her at all. He did ask some hard questions, but that was good for her. Some good questions and good answers. He even arranged the interview with the statue of liberty as a backdrop.

And Beck is right about it regardless of where Obama came from. The birthers are beginning to sound like the chad waving Algoridiots after the 2000 election.

Lets get rid of the Marxist messiah, save the country, restore constitutional government and a few other more important things.

Then maybe some forensic historian can figure out how such a colossal blunder as a free country electing an Obama ever occurred.

Lets put out the fire and then figure out where the arsonist got the matches.

I was one of the original birthers and last night I was called a communist troll by some clowntard birther who has been a FReeper for a shorter time than I've been interested in the BC issue.

Checking sign-up dates really helps you wade thru a lot of the bullsh*t that has been popping up on here lately...

It seems like someone is trying to either take Beck down or teach him a lesson. Who knows.

I just don’t like what’s going on now. We already have the lefties at our throats and we don’t need the RINOS helping them.

"You think he's gonna waste his time suing USA Today? "

Do I think he's going to sue the most widely read newspaper in the country if they intentionally misquote him - an act of libel that would have material and substantive damage to his fan base? You betcha.

Like I said, in my experience, everyone says that they're misquoted. Only those that truly are ever do anything about. Everyone else, is just sorry they got caught.

You have to question someone kissing up to Oreilly who is a Obama lap dog.

Tonight he mentioned Rush’s comments about the factor will be fair and balanced when it comes to socialism and communism because we are looking out for you.

He said I dont believe Obama is a socialist? A fifth grader could figure that one out. People need to realize that Oreilly is one of the most powerful tool for the left.

Kiss up?

Hey maybe they act like adults and put their politics aside, you know like: Hannity likes Bob Beckel, Lanny Davis and G Gordon Liddy are best of friends, GHW Bush and Bill Clinton pal around, Mary Matalin and James Carville are married to each other, Ben Stein supported Obama to name a few...So what was your point again?

"Oh, please. Your little truth test rings hollow. "

My little truth test? You mean a Supreme Court case?

Careful now, you don't want to expose yourself as a moron. As Twain once said, "Better to keep your mouth closed and let men think you a fool, lest you open it and confirm their suspicions.".

If you've got a differing legal opinion, let's here it. Otherwise, you're boring me.

Incidentally, if I'm an astroturfer, then I'm in great company - Bill Bennett, Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh all grow tired of Beck's self-serving histrionics.

Beck’s a phony. He’s as fake as his stupid tears. Why do you think he works so hard to attack the GOP? He attacks us a lot more than he attacks democrats and can’t stand to say anything negative about the rats without getting a jab in at the Republicans.

USA Today is a joke if their readership numbers are judged by the numbers that are dumped for free in hotel lobbies. Heck, it’s even delivered for free along with my small town throwaway ad supplement paper.

Beck’s reach compared to USA Today is like 0bama’s deficit compared to a one dollar bill. Not worth bothering.

It took me 2 seconds to find this:

That was more work than WND put into it.
