The Marine guards took care of that quickly

I must disagree. I didn’t call myself an SP - that was my MOS. My DD-214 reads SP. So does my fathers (I have his copy). These were the nomenclatures of use by the USAF at those time, and not something that WE called ourselves.

“FYI...Air Force bases have Air Force Police”

Um, I always knew the USAF to have Security Police and Law Enforcement. The SP work the gates, the LEs cruise around and write tickets.

FYI...Air Force bases have Air Force Police. U.S. Army bases have M.P.’S..I know I am being picky....the only difference is the name and some of the work they do..I’m an old grumpy MP vet....

I am a retired reservist (6 years Air National Guard). Come to think of it, I believe we called them APs back then.

I have always been impressed with their politeness and professionalism. I know, however, not to speed at all on base nor violate any rules. IMHO, law enforcement on base is much stricter than off base.

I can remember during the Vietnam era, security at an unnamed base was extremely lax. Today, fortunately, that is not the case.

Your scenario matches what was said on a Fox News live link about 4 or 5 hours ago...

The ‘security check point’ where they failed to stop was actually a military cop in a pick-up truck; i.e., a roadblock.

Again, according to commentary on the live link.

those rascally Amish pranksters again?

That's what I think. It's probably an Amish guy named Abdul Moehammed al-Abdullah.

Since most of the cars stolen in Arizona wind up in Mexico, it isn’t a stretch to conclude some of Mexico’s finest citizens had something to do with this.

It was my guess. Anyone who read the banners at the so called “peace” rallies during the Bush administration knows they were a violent group of radicals.

It took the media about one hour to report the guy’s name who flew his plane into the building in Austin last week. What do you suppose is taking so long to get the names, etc. of the perps at Luke AFT?

Back in the old days we were snowed in on base and built a big snowman on one of the side roads. The MP's came by in their jeep and rolled it over. We rebuilt but put in this large ship anchor that was on the lawn. We hid low as they had to go get the wrecker to pull them off it.

I remember seeing on those threads that this same question was being asked about the pilot.

If they are illegals in AZ, sheriff Joe is cautious with all the criticism God forbid they profile!! Sounds to me like a couple of lost illegals took the wrong turn of their life! My son reports there for the reserves. It is extremely safe. Names will be released as soon as they know if they are legal or not.

I think you’ve stumbled into it...some published reports say two vehicles were involved. MCSO stopped a van full of people on a stolen vehicle complaint. People were arrested, but no names given.

A second vehicle involved in the stolen vehicle report left the scene ‘without sheriff’s office intervention’, whatever that was supposed to mean, and made its way onto Luke Air Force Base. Security Forces on base stopped that second vehicle - permanently.

Hi Jinx reminded us in post 214 that it was stolen van full of people...sounds like smuggling.

Anyway, if the perps are from Mexico, it’s taking time because we are checking with Mexico to be sure they aren’t MAD at US for killing one of their own...and they WILL be.

If they had been using a plane or a white van we would have had their names, IRS records, and suicide notes within the hour.

I was in Army Intelligence (1966 to 1986) in Electronic Warfare Operations (98J in the Army, 205 in the Air Force) and spent about half my career on various Air Force bases. I had many good buddies in the Air and Security Police and even then they called themselves the “Infantry” of the Air Force.

My son’s currently in the Army - using the term MOS was due to current usage regarding his enlistment. USAF actually uses AFSC. It’s been 27 years since my time of service. When out of practice, nomenclature will recede into the deeper recesses of one’s memory.
