Study: NY, NJ To Pay 25% Of New Obama Health Tax (Greedy Liberals?)
WCBS TV ^ | 2/24/10 | Marcia Kramer

President Barack Obama's new health care plan really socks it to New York taxpayers and its bad news for residents of New Jersey and Connecticut, too.

The numbers are eye-popping. President Obama's plan to tax investment income to pay for his health care package would force New Yorkers to fork over an additional $4.8 billion in taxes on money they get from interest, dividends and other investments.

But here's the rub: a study by the Manhattan Institute finds that New Yorkers will pay 12 to 15 percent of all the funds raised by the new investment tax. New Jersey residents will pay 7 to 9 percent. That's nearly 25 percent of the entire tax.

The hit to area taxpayers is so staggering that experts wonder how our congressmen and senators can support it.

One of the wimp Republicans should ask NY’s Chuck Schumer about this at tomorrow’s propaganda Fest.

This is no big deal--it's a Dem.

If this was a Republican, it would be the crime of the century.

Taxes tend to nudge people into migrating to friendlier jurisdictions. If the new taxes are as prejudicial to New York as this CBS article claims, there should be enough irritated New Yorkers (net of those who have migrated to Florida, Texas, or New Hampshire) to end some Democrat careers.

Senators Schmucky and whatshername are both running this fall and seem especially vulnerable. One would hope an informed New York citizenry would heckle these two off the stump .... or worse.

53 electoral votes total. 40 House seats currently held by Democrats. Excellent.

Ohmigosh, I was watching the news on Ch. 2 tonight and I almost fell out of my chair. It was like they were having a Tea Party!

I told hubby put it on because of the snow. Just as we tuned in the anchor gal is saying “Pres. Obama’s new health plan really socks it to NYers.” Well, I THOUGHT she said “Pres Obama’s new health plan really s*cks”.

But then, they pretty much DID say just that with reports from all over the tri-state area saying how much the new, increased, expanded, enhanced medicare and other taxes would hurt people in this area.

I think they even singled out Charlie Rangel for not responding to them.

And they had Gillibrand on who same across like a complete moron. (even though she was against it, she just seemed like a dope).

Truly one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen on the MSM.

And....I’m really glad I didn’t call my feckless dem senators yet, because now I can cite this news report and sound all “moderate” and stuff.

Nah, I probably won’t be able to pull that off, but I can still cite the report!

They wanted “change” - let’s give it to them.

they should be happy they’re “paying their fair share” and that their worse off neighbors will be getting some of their money.

Taxes tend to nudge people into migrating to friendlier jurisdictions.

In this case, it's a federal tax. The only friendlier jurisdictions would be other countries.
