As a Republican congressman from Colorado, Tom Tancredo became well-known for his hard-line opposition to illegal immigration. Last year, the 65-year-old retired from the House of Representatives after a decade. Meanwhile, the country shifted to the left during his prospectless bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Moderate John McCain won the primaries, Barack Obama became president and there seemed to be no place left for Tancredo in national politics. But now he has made his way back into the limelight as one of the faces of the Tea Party movement.
In the course of last year, anti-tax protestors took hold of the public debate on government spending and healthcare. Mainly libertarians and older conservatives from rural areas in particular are taking to the streets with fierce slogans (Obama = socialism) and a deep loathing of cultural elites. Earlier this month, Tancredo was the opening speaker at the movements first national convention in Nashville.

Mods, I’ve got the wrong link. Can you fix?
“Palin not presidential”
...Don’t care what Tanc thinks. I like her just the way she is! Breath of fresh air!
Maybe we don’t need someone who is Presidential. Maybe we need someone who is American with common sense.
I think where Tancredo got off on the wrong food was opposing open borders for indigenous Arctic seal hunters.
And I suppose he thinks he is presidential material?
Oh Huuum.
Tancredo who backed romney in 08.
and now Tancredo who supports the CP and the Chuck Baldwin loons who are Anti War 9/11 Truther.
Thank goodness NeoLeftist Tancredo is not supporting Sarah Palin.
All of this back and forth political talk is nothing more than trash talking, all of these articles about Sarah is there just to fill up space on newspapers and blogs......We will know for certain who’s Presidential or not in these primaries and especially in these debates, when the rubber meets the road we will see then and only then.
I guess Tancredo must think that in order to be presidential one has to have graduated from an ivy league school and come from pots of money. It is sad that one of our own gains attention for himself by making such a statement. I certainly do not think more of him for it. In fact, I think much less of him for putting his dislike for McQueeg on Governor Palin’s fair shoulders.
Charisma is Presidential, and someone would have to be blind not to see that Palin has that in spades.
Attacking her on intangible ‘presidentialism’ smacks too much of sexism. Not a guy = not Presidential.
An attack on intangible ‘Presidentialism’ will only convince those who already don't like Palin.
Won't Tom look silly asking Palin for an endorsement now.
Signing on as McCain's veep doesn't mean that Palin is like McCain, it means that he thought she shored up some of his electoral weaknesses; like McCain not being a conservative.
I think all he is saying is; After spending many years in the political system, it just isn’t fair that a relatively new outsider is getting all the support and attention. She hasn’t even been part of the party apparatus or paid her dues. WGAS!!
Tancredo never forgets that. He knows a self serving traitor when he sees one.
Palin could have demurred, let Mad Jonny run his own damn campaign in Arizona. He shouldn't need her endorsement if he's so damn popular, he's been a politician there since 1981.
But she flopped for him, and she's now running around the country parroting the Establishment line.
There's nothing Presidential about that. Presidents are supposed to lead, not follow.
And that is what Mr. Tancredo is talking about. She's chosen to be a shill for the CFR crowd, so nothing new in that. And certainly not Presidential.
So, when you really get down to it, what have all these Palin nay-sayers REALLY done during their careers? They are nothing, they’ve held those positions for decades, does anyone see any improvements?
They challenge nobody, they have nothing to offer. We have been too lazy in the past, we haven’t been paying attention and now it’s time, past time, to remove them from office; prosecute them for crimes and misdemeanors and when found guilty, to imprison.
I’ve been starting at the local level (county prosecutors, DAs, etc.) bringing these things to their attention, questioning, asking how to ferret out the corruption. They in turn will begin doing the same and so on up the ladder—well, we hope nevertheless.
I said, she quoted Reagan for her foreign policy, "We win, they lose".
His head is right, now.
Someone please define “Presidential.”
