The only conservative choice was Thompson who was floundering in Iowa and showing no desire to win.

I was a Thompson supporter but in retrospect I think he may have just been a stalking horse for McCain. I know Huckleberry was.

He definently was a stalking horse for McCain, IMO.. I regret sending Thompson a nickle.

I seems that perhaps the powers-that-be may have loaded the field with a number of stalking horses to divide up the conservative vote.
