House Democrats looking at 'Slaughter Solution' to pass Obamacare
Washington Examiner ^ | 03/10/10 | MARK TAPSCOTT

Posted on 03/11/2010 5:37:29 AM PST by BarnacleCenturion

Would House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her fellow House Democratic leaders try to cram the Senate version of Obamacare through the House without actually having a recorded vote on the bill?

Not only is the answer yes, they would, they have figured out a way to do it, according to National Journal's Congress Daily:

"House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the healthcare overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday.

"Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version.

"Slaughter has not taken the plan to Speaker Pelosi as Democrats await CBO scores on the corrections bill. 'Once the CBO gives us the score, we'll spring right on it,' she said."

Each bill that comes before the House for a vote on final passage must be given a rule that determines things like whether the minority would be able to offer amendments to it from the floor.

In the Slaughter Solution, the rule would declare that the House "deems" the Senate version of Obamacare to have been passed by the House. House members would still have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but they would then be able to say they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself.

A House vote for Slaughter Rule is a vote for The Senate version of ObamaCare.
The Slaughter Rule "deems" it so. Anyone with a claim to contrary is lying.

The Senate will derail what is the sidecar legislation regardless if the Slaughter Rule bolts it onto the Senate Bill.

This new idea they have to pass the bill, sounds like nothing more than a conference committee to reconcile the House and Senate Bill. Therefore, the Senate should be required to have 60 votes to pass this NEW HOUSE BILL; because that is what it will be. If the HOUSE changes the SENATE bill by ONE WORD, 60 votes for cloture should be required. This is BS, and too many Conservative media people are acting like the Slaughter Rule is just a mean thing the House is doing. It is more than mean, it is unprecedented and illegal.

The Senate will have to fully abolish the fillibuster in order for this to pass.

Just in case anyone needs it or is in thought about your post:

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Pure unmitigated “baloney”

Such naivette.

Most of the soldiers I have known in my 30+ years as an NCO and as a member of the DOD has shown you to be exactly wrong.

I am certain that a great many of them would protest. Or resign. Or something. But these would be a minority.

The military will most probably do nothing, but it won't be because they side with the government.

Sorry, but doing nothing is siding with the government. When a government "for the people, by the people" turns against the people, there are only two sides. Doing nothing means siding with tyranny.

Please. If this were actually the defining issue, then the military would have overthrown the civil government no less than sixty years ago. FDR threw any pretense of constitutionality out the window.

Do these guys SERIOUSLY want an uprising in this nation?

Yes. "In confusion there is profit."

Why else would they want a "slaughter option", on top of every other abomination they've heaped upon America?

The nation is overrun with vile criminal elements (imported and/or internally cultivated) thanks to laws (read: Congress) that solicit and reward lawlessness.

The nation is weighed down further with a homegrown and generational dependent class, thanks to laws (read: Congress) that encourage slavery and class warfare.

The American People are oppressed further by the thieving government's insatiable appetite for unearned revenue, thanks to laws (read: Congress) that facilitate and demand wealth transfer from us to them.

Confident of its grasp on power, Congess sees fit to use its iron fist to force Americans into the shackles of Obamacare. Death panels await those who won't bow down to worship.

Envision a scene out of the movie Ben Hur:

"Ramming speed!"

Congress will have its reward. The two-horns (houses) of this false profit may pretend to be harmless little nubs, but the DC demonhouse speaks as a dragon - crafty and deceptive, like its master. "It's for the children" and all that. (Notice how they always speak in positive prognostications for the future, expecting us to believe in lies.)

Destination for false prophet (and the beast and the dragon that Congess serves): lake of fire burning with brimstone.

but his comments on the “Slaughter Solution” indicate he would go for it; says the bills could be “tie barred”.

Are you kidding? Why would he go for that because it would keep government support of abortion in!

“akin to nuclear option.”

MAD(mutually assured destruction) also works in politics. So far the Republicans have backed away from the brink. I’m not sure the Pelosi, Obama camp is that smart.

Not really. They think you will just shut up and take it. Or maybe you will yell a lot and protest and they will still get away with it.

No, it would not. He is referring to "tie barring" the 2nd bill, the reconciliation bill, the one that would eliminate the funding that Stupak finds objectionable because it funds abortion.
