Wilders should be a hero to everybody on the right. This is a man who literally puts his life on the line for his beliefs. He has gotten hundreds of death threats from radical Muslims and has to live under the constant surveillance of several bodyguards. Because he speaks out against radical Islam, he practically lives like a prisoner and there is a real possibility that he will be assassinated like Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh (assassinations seem to be part of the normal political discourse in Holland...).
By European standards he is a very good conservative. For the most part, he supports smaller government, less taxes, less EU control, more democracy, cracking down on crime, etc. He’s also one of the biggest supporters of Israel in Europe. Does this sound like a fascist? To me he sounds like a conservative patriot risking his life to save Western Civilization. Although I don’t agree with everything he says, I think that his rejection of political correctness is refreshing—even if it does infuriate a lot of people who apparently don’t believe in free speech.
