Michele Bachmann to speak at St. Paul rally against health care reform bill
By Joe Kimball | Published Mon, Mar 8 2010 10:33 am

Several conservative groups, including the Minnesota Majority, the Tea Party Patriots of the Twin Cities and Citizens Council on Health Care, will rally Saturday at the State Capitol in St. Paul to oppose the health care reform bill now in Congress. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann will be a featured speaker.

The event, called the "Kill the Bill Rally," will run from noon to 1 p.m. on the upper mall of the Capitol.

Says the Minnesota Majority group, whose slogan is "Standing Together for Traditional Values":

"Even though every major poll clearly shows that a supermajority of the American people oppose the current health care ‘reform’ bill, Nancy Pelosi is planning to jam the bill through Congress with a vote scheduled for March 18.

If you care about preserving your right to make health care decisions for you and your family, please be sure to come to Saturday’s rally."

Heck. I’m going to bump this thread again on the locale board. Are people cowed into complacency with the never-ending onslaught from 0commie? The MN board used to be very active. C’mon Minnesotans!

AFTER ACTION REPORT:

Just got back from the Kill The Bill Rally at the State capitol. I went with 3 others and we all had a blast. Estimated 4,000+. Weather was mild. 4 or 5 speakers had everyone shouting KILL THE BILL repeatedly throughout. Michelle Bachman really laid into the liberals crooked politics of slime going on in DC and she implored everyone to make calls and write letters. Great crowd. Lots of great signs. Saw a great dane in a really mice sweater but couldn't get the camera out in time. Here's the rest.

I was standing in the front row but managed to screw up just about every picture I tried to take.

Photobucket

If you noticed that right as Michelle was about to speak there were about 4 State Troopers who came down to the front center and escorted a couple of jokers away, here they are:

Photobucket

The guy with the "cougar hunters for Palin" shirt on was obviously intoxicated and shouting crude sexual related things to the speakers. He lit a smoke and then when an older lady behind him told him he was being a jerk, he had a few fowl words for her and made a threatening gesture. The lady's husband (assumed) was about to do a little regulating when the troopers stepped in and saved the drunk's life.

The guy in the blue shirt and tie standing next to him was provoking the audience as well but he was far less obnoxious.

That death panel sign was my favorite!

It was hard for me to judge the crowd size from where I was standing but I will agree with your 4K+ number. Channel 4 had a camera crew up front and was interviewing a few people so it will maybe make the news tonight.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Love the pot-bellied pig. I, of course, forgot my camera as I always do.

Great sign! Did you win the TV, or hear which sign won? We scooted out pretty quick at the end to defrost at the Wild Onion. :)

How early were you there to grab a front row spot? We didn’t arrive until 11:40 and were in the middle to back of the crowd, it was hard to tell since I’m a bit vertically challenged. LOL

My husband noticed the four troopers but could not tell what was going on. Glad they got the jerks in their costumes out of there. I guess they thought they could blend in with what they think are stereotypical conservative clothes. Lame.

I got there at 11:10 mostly because I way overestimated the time it would take to drive in from Waconia.

Next time, if you want to get up front just do like those 2 did and throw back a half dozen or so drinks, show up 15 minutes late and just plow your way on up with little regard for anyone else :)

It was kinda nice to get there that early and get to know the people standing around. I had a chance to shake hands with and trade a little small talk with Tom Emmer and John Kline.

Here are a few more pictures that I took:

LOL! It’d be a little difficult for me to barrel my way through. I’d have to have my husband lead the way.

Thanks for the additional pics. I have a feeling there’s a few of us freepers out west. We’re in Watertown. Met a nice freeper from Cologne at a tax cut rally who gave us a lift to our car. But that’s us, the angry mob. :)

I'm in Chaska, off the new 212 by the windmill that doesn't turn and I know a couple of Lurkers from Cologne.

By the way Channel 4 just had a quick blurb advertising coverage of the rally coming up on the news at 10 (delayed)

I was there, too. Brought my entire family and had a great time. Channel 4 news, WCCO, said there were “hundreds” in attendance. I’d say “thousands” would be more accurate.

He’s too old to attrack Cougars, anyway. Maybe the reason for the bitterness.
