Everything you said is undiluted hogwash.
It is in fact a Drive by Wire system, the same system employed by nearly ever manufacturer.
Signals created by movement of the pedal are sent, via a wire, to the ECU where it is converted into a different signal which opens the throttle body.
It is a fully wired system.
Why would a manufacturer spend hundreds of dollars on a wireless system when 5 cents worth of copper wire will do the same?
The part about possible spaced based hackers causing the problem I will leave to Art Bell.

Hey I was shown the positioning sensor on the 2009 honda Civic with its little glowing LED on the accelerator pedal...perhaps the salesman had some of his facts wrong. Wired or not, it’s still all drive via IP or similar protocol and subject to being FUBARed under the right conditions. The question is should there be some type of failsafe back-up mechanically controled linkage to the throttle if the digital interfaces screw up?
