Sorry to hear that. I was in the 3rd Marine Division, 9th Marines. I was only in the clean up crew there, and did not fire a shot. Lots of my outfit did though.

My dad was on Iwo Jima and Okinawa. I have some of his pictures from those islands on my Facebook site.My dad said he shot at the wind a few times but he was building airfields.
We have several vets in the church who served with the Marines on those islands.
