It's been a violent St. Patrick's Day along the Mexican side of the border.

Authorities report that at least 13 dead in about 24 hours time, another police station was attacked and three police officers are missing.

A shootout between Mexican soldiers and armed civilians ended with one man being killed in Ciudad Mier.

Tamaulipas State Police confirmed on Wednesday morning that federal officials are investigating the deadly shootout.

Authorities did not release the name of the person who was killed but said the deadly battle took place along a highway at the city's entrance.

State police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found strangled along the banks of the Rio Grande in Miguel Aleman on Wednesday morning.

Authorities also reported that three Ciudad Victoria police officers are missing.

State police reported their patrol car was found abandoned at the intersection of two highways early Wednesday morning.

Police in Hidalgo, Tamaulipas also reported that their building was attacked by an explosive device. One traffic officer was killed and another was injured. Five police cars were set on fire.

The mayhem follows more violence on Tuesday where three people were killed in a shootout in Jimenez, Tamaulipas.

The bodies of four men were also found shot to death in Llera, Tamaulipas.

Another three were reported killed in a shootout with soldiers in Reynosa on Tuesday morning.
