He did incredibly well investing in land in the Santa Ynez Valley. Nice tasting room at his vineyard, although the wine wasn’t that hot compared to some others along Foxen Canyon Road. The wine glasses that you got to keep after the tasting were etched with little coonskin caps.
I buy his wine fairly often - guess I’ll buy some more to celebrate his life.
A few years ago we went to a July 4 band concert at the Fess Parker Winery. Mr. Parker did a reading of one of Abraham Lincoln’s speeches (not the Gettysburg address). He was a towering figure even then, well into his seventies.
