Stupak: We are close to deal with White House
The Hill ^

Posted on 03/21/2010 6:43:30 AM PDT by AlanD

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said Sunday morning that he is close to striking a deal with the Obama administration on abortion provisions.

"We are close to getting something done," Stupak said in an interview with MSNBC.

Stupak said he engaged in talks late into the night on Saturday night.

The possible deal would focus on an executive order that would specify there would be no public funding for abortions in the healthcare bill.

"We're close but we're not there yet," Stupak said.

Democratic leaders said Sunday they have the votes on healthcare reform, but Stupak said until there is a deal struck, they don't have the votes.

Stupak said "there were eight of us" in the negotiating room with us, all of them no votes.

I am not trying to be Anti-Catholic here, I am calling as I see them.

One thing you can be sure of. Catholic hospitals will close if the feds force them to perform abortions.

And Obama couldn't be happier. This is probably the main reason why he wants to mandate abortion-funding in his gov't-run death-management scheme.

Think about it. Why risk the passage of his dream bill for gov't-funded abortions, unless their is more than meets the eye?

Chet Edwards, for example, has been given permission to vote against it, cause he’s in a big fight in a relatively conservative area of Texas.

I don't live in Texas but if my congressman even flirted with the idea of voting for this monstrosity - I would not consider voting for him because he has displayed his total lack of character or judgment.

“Don’t underestimate Obama’s knock for snatching defeat from the jaws of certain victory.

Kansas was headed towards an NCAA title until Obama picked them as national champions on his bracket. Crossing my fingers that the “Obama magic” works the same way on the health reform bill.

Bart Stupak is basically a one-issue candidate. He is a conventional liberal but who is very Pro-Life.

By the end of the day I guess we will see how "very pro-life" he is won't we.

Nah, he won't be that blatant. He will just issue an EO with loopholes wide enough to drive a truck through.

Yep, he can’t possibly be naive enough to believe in this deal. Hope his district sees through his “cover”.

The BC issue is a no brainer.

Hitler was my father, my mother was underage. I should be able to be president!

It doesn't matter where he was born. His Father was NOT AN AMERICAN CITIZEN!

At best he is a dual citizen. Not a NBC! Not eligible for POTUS!

Stupak is setting himself up to be the ultimate pariah. If he caves for an EO, he will rightly be seen as a Judas by the pro-life community. The pro-choice crowd already loathes him and caving won’t change that.

So he’s worked himself into a spot where he simultaneously gets to be 1) The Guy Who Enabled Pro-Abort Healthcare and 2) The Guy Who Nearly Derailed Healthcare. Well played, Stupak.

Of course his real mistake was made long ago when he decided to throw in with the Democrats. It was inevitable that they’d require him to betray his most deeply held belief. He’s like a character in a Greek tragedy. This was written into the plot from the beginning.

What a pathetic, tragic doofus.

This “Stupak” cult is reminding me of the PUMA “expectation”.

These people are all about Etatism with deals flying left and right as well as smokescreens in order to try and cover for November. I pray the electorate wake up but what will Repubs do.? Kill or reform with a veto pen waiting at the end of the rainbow. Repubs track record in killing bureaucracies is pretty low. Yes, they practice reform, but only to their liking, but guess what, a change in power and dems "perform" their reforming.

One must never put hope in the current democrat Party, who maintain large majorities in Congress, nor its supporters. Unfortunately the Feds are not listening and are emboldened by MILLIONS of ignorant people who fight for the Federal government to be their nanny from exiting the birth canal to being cremated (Environmentally conscious). Also, the ignorant educated class that seems they are “enlightened” at the efficiency the central State, will provide "the correct way to do things". Their noble predecessors who where too weak to take on the "capitalist", (Soviet Union failed because the United States did not let "it" thrive, yes I was taught that in college) failed but current Utopians running amok in this Country openly trade liberty for the cushion of the State.

We are dealing with Frankensteins with elegant letters behind their names along with their minions who believe and became instilled in a collectivist Utopia. We are beyond trouble and it seems the only way to turn around is to drive real fear and noncompliance onto these benevolent totalitarians. Protesters are being "MSNed" out of relevance in the public square. What next? Hmmm....

You bring up a good point. Yes he is a schemer. Chances are even the executive order would have something in it that would be untasteful or even the non-profit Catholic Hospitals won't have margins and have to sell, to Uncle Sugar of course. Yes Obama doesn't want them, but not yet like the Chicago Thug quasi "Mafooch" he is, he will bleed them dry financially 1st.

“Don’t underestimate Obama’s knock for snatching defeat from the jaws of certain victory.”

Exactly. Northern Iowa U. didn’t let the media and pollsters change their game plan against Kansas. Those Iowa boys just played harder and smarter than the so-called favorite. Just goes to show, never, ever give up the fight for what you know is right. Obviously, Stupak is a loser weak spined, go along with the crowd, poitician. Exactly what we don’t need in Congress. I would rather have Ali Farokhmanesh representing me any day.

Whoa. Sounds like this was written yesterday - it all fits so perfectly.

And it could come about.

If someone finally drops the dime on the true background of the "ONE" - (I'm not talking about the BC. I'm thinking about his having become an Indonesian citizen when a little boy, attending school as a member of the "Islam" faith, of the resemblance more to Lolo (whom his mother was friends with before the Kenyan, and his "half" sister, Maya) - his 'twin' in, of all places on earth, Jakarta, - his blow up with his grandparents in his teens when he came across his BC -

now just suppose: Suppose Lolo was his real father - that he is Indonesian/white - and did he travel to Pakistan, with his 3 Muslim roommates in his teens, on an Indonesian passport (real reason for break in targeting his passport info during campaign?) and when/or did he ever give up Indonesian citizenship and again become an American Cit?

If the above scenario proved out - none would be more furious than the black community and we would see this psalm unfold, line by line.

You can hide things from man, but you can hide nothing from God.

What a pathetic, tragic doofus.

Only to be beaten by Joe Lieberman....

Think about it, Lieberman...

1.) They Guy who could have asked Clnton to step down on the house floor and didn't.

2.) The guy who could have asked Al Gore not to drag the country through Bush v. Gore.

Their is one more that escapes me, but he is even more tormented than Stupak....

Is there a single, principled Democrat?

They are all in private life. Look how far these sociopaths have gotten without any principles at all. If you're a 'rat politician right now, you have good reason to believe that principles are for losers.
