Which is exactly why Reid’s statement “I think we’re going to have 216 when the roll is called” is completely meaningless. By definition, they will have 216 votes when the roll is called, since they wouldn’t be calling it otherwise. They could be 40 votes short and his statement would be just as true. The ISSUE is whether they have 216 votes to call the roll today—a question he conveniently ducked.

Could she have the votes? sure, and I think she was downright cocky yesterday AM, but since then, since she hung herself out there, she has to vote now. I would have agreed with this prior to the TARP vote last year that failed and sent the stock market off a cliff.
