Stupak's U-turn no surprise
One News Now ^ | March 22, 2010 | Charlie Butts

Posted on 03/22/2010 6:29:09 PM PDT by AFA-Michigan

Stupak has been touted by the national media as a leading combatant against using tax dollars for abortion. But when the bill was finally put to a vote and Stupak voted in favor, many of his constituents were not surprised. Gary Glenn of the American Family Association of Michigan explains why.

"We issued a news release months ago calling Bart Stupak a fraud, because what happened at the last minute from a national perspective was no surprise at all to those of us actually here in Michigan," says Glenn.

The AFA-Michigan spokesman explains that reaction is because of a town hall meeting last fall in Cheboygan with Stupak facing his constituents on the issue.

THE RUSH LIMBAUGH SHOW New York, New York March 22, 2010

RUSH LIMBAUGH: There's a lot of anger at Bart Stupak today. Bart Stupak was always going to vote for this. The thing that Bart Stupak needs to be hounded out of office for is for misleading an entire nation and giving an entire nation a big, fake feint job that he and his cohorts were somehow going to do something to stop this on the basis of a false premise, anyway.

I want you to hear a piece of audio from Stupak. This is October 24th in Cheboygan, Michigan. He held a town hall meeting. This is Internet quality, here. He held a town hall meeting, and he told a questioner, one of his voters, that if he liked everything but the abortion funding he would vote for it. He said this last October.

STUPAK: "If everything I want [is] in the final bill, I like everything in the bill except you have public funding for abortion -- and we had a chance to run our amendment and we lost. Okay, I voted my conscience, stayed true to my principles, stayed true to the beliefs of this district. Could I vote for health care? Yes, I still could."

How many votes need to change to turf Stupak out?

If any of you people from Michigan see him on the street, call him Judas Stupak. That should be his name from now on. Ask him if he got his 30 pieces of silver. Hound him ruthlessly. Don't step over the line and break any laws. We don't want to act like Democrats but don't let this pass. Don't forget his betrayal. Let him know.

And for heavens sake, vote the SOB out in November, that is assuming he decides to run. And vote out any Democrat who runs in his place if he doesn't seek the Democratic Nomination. I think a lot of Democrats who voted for this bill will decide not to run. Don't let them pull the two-card Monty with another supposedly pro-life Democrat. Remember: Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Stupak is a verb which means to say one thing and do another.

“Stupak is a verb which means to say one thing and do another.”

Hey, I like your phrase.....from this day forward, to do a “StupaK” is to talk out of both sides of your mouth.
Pass it on FR’s...

A liberal Democrat voted for a federal government take-over of the health care system that pays for abortions?

GASP! I am shocked. Shocked I tell you!

Unfortunately, Stupak is in "an overwhelmingly liberal district."

The only way he was in danger of getting voted out of office was if he had voted against the Obamanation health care deform bill.

Maybe Michigan voters who so desire should send him lots of fake 30 pieces of silver.

Did anyone really think that this Stupak was the genuine article? He played the role, exited, stage left, and was given a few crumbs for Michigan. He was a tool, remains a tool and will forever be known as the tool that made a fool of himself over an issue (abortion) that he never was a fighter for. He was not against abortion, his cause was Federally funded abortion....Some of held the idea that he would stick to his principles. FLASH NEWS....he has none, he is a DAMNOCRAT!

If you watch the YouTube video, he openly said five months ago that he’d vote in favor of the final bill, even if it DID tax-fund abortion. Everything since has been a ruse by which to maximize his bargaining power and get the biggest payoff for dropping the ruse.

"Stupak's U-turn no surprise"

Well then, surely no one is surprised that Stupak's U-turn was no surprise.

Judas Stupak.

At least Judas Iscariot was overwhelmed by grief and did the right thing about it.

Ask him if he got his 30 pieces of silver.

The answer to that question is a resounding yes. I posted the following while Stupak was still supposedly in the 'no' column:

MSNBC says Stupak is a yes [Update: Dana Bash on @CNN: Stupak confirmed moments ago he is STILL A NO

Does anyone here honestly, in their heart of hearts, expect anything else from any Democrat. Of course they were all going to vote for this monstrosity. The holdouts are just smarter than the others, because they are getting their sweetheart deals. Oh, and if anyone believes the sweetheart deals are only “pork” for the holdouts’ districts, dream on. Without any doubt whatsoever, there is under-the-table money for these individuals changing hands in some form or fashion. Don’t believe it? Just remember that idiot Jefferson who got caught with cash in his freezer. And remember Duke Cunningham, politically a solid conservative. Do you really think those were isolated cases?

The only things any politician understands -- the ONLY things -- are money and power. Everything else is mere window dressing.

I knew all along that the so called pro-life DEMs would vote for this.

There is no such thing as a witch and a principled Democratic office holder in Washington DC.
