That's a fine choice in 45Auto. I like my Springfield 1911. It shoots much better after installing a comp in place of the barrel bushing. It took 30 hours of fitting with emery cloth. The snug fit reduced my 10 shot, 25 yd groups from 2.5" to under 1 1/4". The stock barrel bushing is simply too loose.

Do you carry the comp gun for self defense? Myself, I'd never carry a comped gun for SD. If you ever had to shoot from a position of retention you'd get all those hot gases and redirected muzzle blast right in the face and eyes.
