Some ethnic organizations are complaining that the shorter 2010 Census questionnaire requires more effort for blacks and whites to fully declare their heritage.

In previous population counts, they could check boxes for their ethnicity

I have sympathy for the people who get to pick only one flavor of vanilla or chocolate but are offered multiple flavors of Hispanic, Asian, etc. However, the truth of the matter is that we are all mixed race. It is just a question of degree.

So I decided to skip the government's stupid race division game and simply wrote in "mixed race" and checked that box. That's all the s.o.b.s need to know.

The government is supposed to be blind to my race/ethnicity/etc. So, why do they ask me what it is?

I was born in Texas. That makes me a Texan.

I don’t care where my great great grand parents were born.

The form does not ask if you are a citizen.

The great-grandchild of Carpatho-Rusyns who fled poverty in the Austro-Hungarian Empire more than a century ago, Poloka said he plans to check "white" and write in "Carpatho-Rusyn."

Idiot. It sounds to me that he was born in America, his parents were born in America, and even his grandparents were born in America. Who gives a damn what hell-hole his g-g grandparents escaped from? He's an American!

It's time to cut this ethnic and racial hyphenation crap.

My race is white and my ethnicity is AMERICAN.

Where my ancestors may have come from is another story nd none of their business.

It is very curious that the Obama administration is purely interested in hispanics, giving them a separate question.

We are answering the question on race as follows: AMERICAN

I was born here, so I think I’m going to write in “Native American”.

I find the question about race puzzling, since there is no universally accepted definition of race. I sincerely have no way of answering it to my own satisfaction.

"So I decided to skip the government's stupid race division game and simply wrote in "mixed race" and checked that box."

The scientifically correct answer is Homo Sapien or Human.

It only took me 2 seconds to do my census form.

Straight to the shredder.

Note that the government doesn’t want to tally religious sect even though they claim that data from these forms is used for city development including the placement (by private interests) of new churches. Wouldn’t it help to know which denomination?

Also we are told that there is no prosecution for illegal immigrants who fill out the paperwork. Fine. Ok. Have it that way. Why not still ASK who’s here illegally so that we can properly quantify how many illegal aliens are here?

No. It’s all about dividing down ever group.

Even Spaniard europeans get tallied unlike anyone else of European origin. It is a xenophobic form. No doubt in that.

Obama can’t make that same claim.

But without the census your town won’t be able to figure out what to do if every bus is full or if every classroom has 85 kids. Those commercials have told me that the city officials are far too stupid to count usage without the federales doing it for them. < /sarc>

Great point. At the other end of the extreme...there’s good evidence that my ancestors at one time lived in Africa.

So what are they really asking?

How does my race affect how many representatives my State has in Congress? How does my race affect how much of my money comes back to “my neighborhood” from the Federal government?

Remember how the Census Bureau was put under the control of the Department of Commerce, which is a White House cabinet office? What do they really want with the racist information they’re collecting?

I just skipped the questions entirely.

I’m as proud of my Polish heritage as anyone, but Pan Poloka is being ridiculous. The Census should just have one item to fill in: “How many live in your place of residence?”

The Liberals only collect race information to use in setting one race against the other and comparing races to create fear and rage. The government collecting race data should be illegal in America.
