WASHINGTON - DC Fire officials say one person is dead, five people are in critical condition, and two people are in serious condition. Fire officials say all of the victims are in their 20s and 30s except one person who is a teen.
The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 4000 block South Capitol St.
Police say an MPD cruiser crashed during the pursuit that followed. It happened in the 5600 block of Saint Barnabas Road.
Prince George's County Fire officials say the officers will be transported to a DC Hospital.
No word yet if suspects have been captured.
Police and medevac helicopters have also responded.
South Capitol Street is closed.
Wait. I thought they had a gun ban in the city.
DC ought to pass a law against guns. Then this stuff would stop.
Christian militia, I bet
Hope! Change! Progress!
At least nine people were shot in an apparent drive-by in southeast Washington Tuesday evening, and four D.C. police officers were injured pursuing possible suspects.
One person died at the scene in the 4000 block of South Capitol Street and at least eight others have been taken to area hospitals. Some are in critical condition.
D.C. police responded to the shooting report at about 7:30 p.m.. An AK47-type weapon reportedly was thrown from a green sedan that police chased through parts of D.C. and across the Prince George's County line.
Four officers in pursuit of the vehicle were injured in a crash in the 5600 block of St. Barnabas Road in Temple Hills, Md.
Nay ... Amish militia.
wait, dc? definitely thugs... that’s all i’m going to say.
so, nothing to see here.. pretty much a daily occurrence.
According to Google street view, not a pretty neighborhood. Pretty much what I was expecting.
Amateurs!
Come to Cincinnati (Detroit South) for real gangbanger action!

CINCINNATI — In what can only be described as a bloody month of March, there are yet more victims of gun violence.
Eight people have died in as many days...
This doesn’t make much sense. Was the pursuit after the shooting or the shooting after the pursuit! We’re they people on the street? crazy article!
LOL... Idiots, abusing and tossing a perfectly good AK47. There ought ta be a law, I tell ya!
Once we finish cleaning out the political dens of vipers, we're going to have to do something about them as well...
Damned if I know! I was not in on the action!
Reportedly gang-related. Damned Democrats are at it again.
A conservative would never throw away a good firearm.
I think the description of the shooters ran like this:
8 Amish midgets wearing tinfoil hats and shouting “PeeWee Herman Lives”. Seen driving away in a Pinto.
That’s all we need here - imported Amish gangbangers.
I know the area. I used to have Greater Southeast Hospital as an account and never did any work after regular business hours.
DC is trying to revitalize this area; it is close to the Nationals Ballpark and Marine Baracks.
Slow night in the White House...
"Obama steps out for quality time with the brothas."
I remember the , the ‘rhetoric’ of the 70’s, that incited violence....sniff, rolls eyes...nancy pelosi
OH, that’s good... ROTFLMAO... DAMN IT! Ya made me SPILL my DRINK!
Having worked in Anacostia DC in the early 90’s I am compelled to ask-— “Why is this news?”
There were enough murders there in the first week of 1992 that DC was on the pace for 1000 in the year.
More folks were killed within 5 blocks of where I worked there than in all of of Albuquerque in 1993. And the locals here were bemoaning the “crime rate”.
Wow. The Cincy police shootings and riots of April 2001 are what really made me a dedicated FReeper. I really, really saw where the MSM was hiding reality from the American people during that event. Of course, those events were completely overshadowed by events of 9/11/2001.
It seemed as if things had settled down there post-9/11. Sad to see it starting back up.
There is a link to one or two of the Cincy 2001 threads in my FR links page, and in the thread you can find the posts I was doing linking the many threads that ran during that time.
I bet it still fires just fine.
It was that damned Tea party bunch again.
Gees, this is news? That’s the tip of the iceberg for one day.
Remembering that this report is from local lamestream media, we need to take these descriptions with a grain of salt.
For all we really know (because what do reporters in DC know about firearms?), the firearm could have been an M1911 or an SP101 as easily as it was an "AK47 type weapon."
And the vehicle may also have been a red SUV. Think back to the DC sniper case... white van. It turned out to be a blue Chevy Caprice.
Behold, the newest Tea Party member < /media spin >
Come to New Haven, CT.

Which political party has controlled Washington, D.C. for the last 30 years?
Keep ridiculing them on their trying to tag “violence” and “racism” to the Consevative Revolt (Tea Party) happening in the USA these days. We can make them laughing stocks through such tactics. Bravo, rogertarp. :-)
And why is the fire department issuing the statement, rather than the PD?
Look out for a white guy in his 40’s
Why would you throw your gun away?
Must not watch NCIS, Gibbs has a rule - never relinquish your firearm!
The Fire Department is in-charge of the ambulances used to pick up the dead and wounded, as well as having pump trucks to wash away all the blood on the streets.
Not a good image to have bloody streets showing up on the news (yeah, right). Might tell the viewers that the Democrats don’t control the streets; their gangbanger friends do.
It’s just the trash taking out the trash....
Ahh. Thanks for the info.
Hyphenated African-Amerikans? Thought so! 0bozo supporters to boot!
Exactly.
There. Fixed it.
But if they were smoking camels, that changes everything.
MS-13?
(knowing they are big in No. Va.)
Were any aspiring rappers killed or injured?
Looks like their style of hit.
Thanks for posting that.
:-)
I once lived for a time in this general vicinity. I often heard gunfire at night. Strange thing in a city that had outlawed possession of a firearm. /s
Dog bites man story.
Just 8? DC has improved since the days I lived there.
No it isn't. Nats Park is on the north shore of the Anacostia River in Near Southeast, 12 blocks south of the Capitol.
This shooting took place in Congress Heights, which is in Anacostia-proper, and was about three blocks from the Maryland line in Eastover.
