Yeah. and we should’ve just bought off the Indian tribes, Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, the USSR, Communist China, North Korea, North Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, etc, etc, etc.
Sometimes you just have to fight for freedom.
-—”Sometimes you just have to fight for freedom.”-—
Amen, brother, amen!
I just got a real belly laugh at this one, since the Paulistinians have been smearing Palin with incomplete quotes, half-contexted statements, and wild assumptions.
They’re never going to live down the fact that Ron Paul just came out against the Civil War. LOL
Yes, thank you for saying it.
After all, therre’s always plenty of other people’s money - not that Ron Paul would be for that. Where did he think they’d get the money to buy the slaves? He doesn’t believe in taxes.
Amen!
That's the just and righteous reason. The practical reason is that all it would achive would create an illicit but goverment legitimized market for slaves that would eventually be paid for by every free man, which would eventually bankrupt the country.
As each slave is bought, 10 more would step into line to be sold - hard to say how many would be forced, and how many would paddle on over for 3 squares and a roof, and if they received benefits and comforts and what seemed kinda like freedumb from the slave traders as long as they did their bidding, it could quickly turn into a self perpetuating blight that would soon scar the face of the nation....wait, what era were we talking about?
Come on Jim, that's exactly what the South was doing. The North was fighting against freedom and for domination by the federal government. Today's problems can be directly traced to Lincoln's actions. I think Paul is kook but Lincoln was no different than 0bama.
Jim, as I read this particular thread in the way it has developed, I can't help but believe that there are a lot of Freepers who think that the freedom of enslaved humans in nineteenth century America should not have been "fought for".
Rather, we should have just waited a few more generations in the hope that slavery would have gone away on its own.
No, I'm not trying to get those people chastised or banned. I'm just kind of disappointed in what they say.
I wonder if you feel the same way???
