I’d love to see Rush, Glenn Beck or some other conservative offer up a bet to George Soros, any other lib-Dem-socialist, or any politician:
$1 million dollars is the bet — that in 5 years, it will be proven that this bill is costing more and delivering fewer benefits than that promised by the Obama Administration and the Democrats when they passed it and when it was scored by the CBO. Or something equivalent. Let Intrade run it so that it’s legal. It would be the easiest $1 million Rush has ever made... it would be a guaranteed winner.

You have to wonder about his political instincts sometimes. As pointed out, half or more of the American people are against this bill. Does he really think that he is going to persuade any of those to his point of view through ridicule? Does he care about his own re-election in 2012? Or does he expect the fix to be in for that election?

When a Roman general was victorious in a foreign military campaign, he would return home to ride standing in a parade (sort of a long version of the “celebration” we see in sports when a touchdown is made). An attendant always was required to stand in back of the winning general in the chariot or other conveyance he was riding in and continually whisper in his ear that he wasn’t as great as he thought he was, to keep down the hubris and the problems associated with an inflated ego.

My mother will lay off her housekeeper at her B&B as soon as she has to pay for health insurance for her. Even with the tax credits, she won’t be able to afford the extra expense. When the housekeeper loses her job, ask her where the Armageddon is. Then, when my MOTHER DIES EARLY because she has to personally clean all the rooms with NO HELP (she has a heart problem), ask ME where the Armageddon is.
Ask the companies taking $1 billion charges where the Armageddon is. Ask the workers who will get laid off when they need to tighten operations to bolster profits after such an egregious charge.
