WASHINGTON – The nation's economy posted its largest job gain in three years in March, while the unemployment rate remained at 9.7 percent for the third straight month.

The increase in payrolls is the latest sign that the economic recovery is gaining momentum and healing in the job market is beginning. Still, the healing is likely to be slow, and most economists don't expect new hiring to be fast enough this year to rapidly reduce the unemployment rate.

The economy needs to add over 125,000 jobs a month to just keep pace with population growth. If the number of jobs continues at this path, then we will have 5% unemployment in about 8 years.

Must have been the staff for the over 100 new agencies to run obamanatincare, and the 16,500 IRS agents to monitor our bank records.

Lost decade. Unless we deport illegal aliens in mass ... or population growth reverses.

It's still 13 to 15 percent across Ohio. The only way it's 9.8% is by cooking the numbers. I would expect jobs numbers to be shooting up due to warm weather and the road construction / repairs beginning. It's not. They lie.

This is a bunko number. These are just temp census workers numbers. The private sector is bleeding.

I agree with your sentiment that illegal aliens need to go, but they are not the cause of our unemployment problems. Mr. Obama and his cohorts in congress are. Besides making it risky for businesses to hire (what will the future costs be for businesses?) they also make if cushy to sit at home without a job. Discourage job creation and encourage non-work.

Really it is higher than that, though they claim the official number dropped .5 points yesterday. From what I have seen the actual is closer to the 20-25% range, more if you count underemployed.

You are correct, and those jobs are TEMPORARY, so when 0bamao and Biden begin crowing about the job numbers, keep that in mind.

If the unemployment rate remained at 9.7%, then as many jobs were lost as were added (e.g. 200K jobs added less 200K jobs lost = ZERO net jobs added). To make matters worse, I'd bet that the jobs added were government/union jobs, while those lost were good old fashioned private sector jobs.

This is just more smoke and mirrors from an administration that specializes in lying and subterfuge. Absolutely NO truth come from them.

We are well on our way to becoming France.

Let’s be a little optimistic shall we ?

Hey, at least businesses are starting to hire and hundreds of thousands of people are getting jobs. That’s less burden on our unemployment system and more food on the table.

Remember this — Unemployment is a LAGGING indicator.

I expect the jobs scene to improve by third quarter of this year.

Or those who work for cash only. And a .5% drop is not enough to make a impact on anything. AC needs to start cutting unnecessary jobs, starting with HIS!

Did you know old stevie boy cohen has an opponent besides king willie and it is Prince Mongo? And she is a CONSERVATIVE! I checked her out with people I trust, and she passed their muster.

It’s hard to believe ADP “missed” the number by nearly 200,000 when their record has been within 10,000 or so. After all, ADP only counts real payrolls....
