Attached are talking points regarding AB 895 and SB 640, election law reform bills that the Democrats are pushing through the Legislature very quickly, before public awareness and opposition occur. Please e-mail and/or call your WI State Representative and Senator (plus others?) and ask them to oppose the bills. You can find their names and contact information at http://www.legis.wisconsin.gov/w3asp/waml/waml.aspx. E-mails to newspapers would help, too.

AB 895 and SB 640 would increase voter fraud and corruption, allow motor voter registration and satellite early voting locations (e.g. dorms, outside of bars, etc.), ease absentee voting requirements, accept school IDs for registration, create a state voter database to merge with a national one, etc. Citizens who tend not to vote in low-turnout elections would receive automatic/permanent absentee ballot status, one of several unfunded mandates with high administrative costs to municipalities, that will have to prepare and mail many more ballots with return postage. The Democrats are determined to expand socialism at all levels in sneaky ways! The bills do not contain mandatory voter ID provisions, which any election reform legislation must include.

The Republican National Committee and Republican Party of WI are spending money and working hard to defeat the reforms that threaten the integrity of election systems, in all 50 states, including WI (as they have done for years). Both depend on our financial support.

Please forward this action item to people in, or with ties to, WI (not only voters). Thank you!

Phone Script for Tuesday Blitz Day
TIPS:
• Practice!! Call your cell phone or work voicemail and play it back so you can hear how you sound!
• Be polite
• Speak clearly and slowly – let your emotion show but not so that you cannot be understood
• Thank whomever you speak to for their assistance
• Call all 5 of the targeted members as they may be the ones most likely to change their minds if they know people are watching how they will vote!
• Call Reps Staskunas and Barca as they will play a key role in the next step of the process.

SCRIPT:
Hello. My name is ____________________________. I am a resident of ______________ WI. (mention here if the person you are calling is your representative or one of family, friends, do business there etc.)
I am calling to inform you of my concern and opposition to the legislation SB 640 or what is called the Wisconsin Voter Protection Act. This bill does not protect my vote. It does not include any provision for voter ID. It will allow for greater abuse by those who want to take away my vote. And it will overburden the municipal clerks and their budgets to accommodate these new regulations. Please vote against this in the Joint Finance Committee until the bill actually protects votes and voters.
I will be watching to see which way you vote. And that will not be forgotten in November.

VARIATIONS:
In the attached documents are other very good points so use one that is of particular interest to you.
If voicemails are full, flood their fax and email!

NEXT STEP:
If this does pass through the Joint Finance Committee it is expected that it will be going to the floor for a vote. Then start contacting your Representatives directly and share this with family and friends.
