this whole issue is ridiculous. Many people refer to countries of ethnic origin as a “mother country” or homeland. Look at Irish Americans, for example.
Wouldn’t you want the President who says he is proud America is his home country? That is Patriotism. Do you sense patriotism in Michelles comments?
You can probably also find audio of a Kennedy referring to Ireland as their “Homeland”. Just sayin’.
