Texas will not be a State of surfs.

I thought the waves at South Padre Island were pretty good - especially before hurricanes. :)

About 40 years ago, there were some good waves on the north side of a couple of jetties that were a little north of the Padre Island Park entrance (at Bob Haul Pier). But I reckon that all kinds of buildings have sprouted up around there since the Million Dollar Inn (only building on that part of the beach back then).

Some of the best fishing I have ever experienced was back of Padre Island in the bay, near Port Mansfield.

It has been a long time, but it was quite an experience.

After 3 days of it, I grew weary catching Redfish, Flounder and Sea Trout. (before the current limits.)

The wind blew us off the bay after mid-day. But we were tired anyway.
