In the past I worked HR and saw company officials golfing and dining with business agents from various unions (laborers, carpenters, operators, electricians, plumbers, et al). It’s difficult to picture animus at a bargaining table the next morning when those involved in negotiations shared cocktails, personal banter and surf and turf the prior night.
Now that you bring it up, I remember the same type of thing going on way back when. I have zero respect for unions these days.
My 91 year old Uncle told me about the time he was at a union meeting and the boss were all up on a stage and the people paying their wages were sitting below them. My Uncle said that he raised his hand to ask a question and the next thing he knew he was outside.
