Tea Party Express Offers Bart Stupak $700,000 to Resign from Congress*

The Tea Party Express (website: www.TeaPartyExpress.org) has announced it will offer Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Michigan) to resign.

Media outlets have reported that Congressman Stupak has considered retiring from Congress in light of the overwhelmingly negative response he has received for his efforts to support the recently-passed health care legislation.

Similarly, media reports at the time of the health care bill's passage suggested Stupak received $700,000 in airport grants in exchange for his vote.

"If Bart Stupak is considering resigning then we want to do what we can to help him along in that decision.  Exchanging your votes, principles and decisions for money seems to be the modus operandi for Bart Stupak.  So how do we find $700,000 to get this corrupt and failed politician out of office, so that we can get a representative of the people, who respects the Constitution, to take Stupak's seat?" asked Mark Williams, Chairman of the Tea Party Express.

*Note:  The Tea Party Express obviously does not support the buying off of politicians, and wishes to note this offer is made with dripping sarcasm to underscore the point of how wrongful Mr. Stupak's actions were.

The Tea Party Express has 5 rallies (Ironwood, MI; Escanaba, MI; Sault Sainte Marie, MI; Cheboygan, MI; Petoskey, MI) planned in Stupak's district through the second half of this week and into the weekend, plus a 6th rally in Traverse City, which is in the media market that covers the northern Lower Peninsula portion of Stupak's district.

Tea Party Express III: Just Vote Them Out national tour kicked off March 27th in Searchlight, NV where one of the largest political gatherings in Nevada history took place.  The Tea Party Express will hold 48 tea party rallies across the nation, featuring conservative speakers, singers, and entertainers.

I support the notion, but isn’t this why Sestak and the WH are in the crosshairs? Sounds like a bribe to me. Just sayin’. sd

Why not? Every Democrat politician accepts bribes.

Or in Bart’s case, just give him a nice autographed IOU. He doesn’t know the difference.

underscore the point of how wrongful Mr. Stupak's actions were.

Underscores the point that Bart can be bought of.

I have seen it proposed to offer each member of Congress some tens of millions of dollars to get out of public life altogether. It would be far cheaper than leaving them there.

Or, how many wealthy politicians would work for free. IMO, most of them do it for the power...they’re not going to give it up that easily.

Well. I submit that he IS IN office. And he’s being offered emoluments to influence his behavior. Looks like a bribe to me. sd

I don’t know how so many of the others missed the disclaimer but I saw it before I got to your comment.

Its not a bribe if it isn’t actually being offered.
