Short answer: the Jews are lost sheep just like Jesus said they are. They don't know who their Friend is. The world never was, is not, nor never will be their friend.

Historically in Old Testament times down through the ages until now, when the Jews lost sight of their Friend, they tried to make friends with those that hated them who sooner or later would always try to destroy them.

They have a Friend. They just don't yet realize it. They will soon.
