A seven-year-old Russian boy who was adopted by an American woman has been sent home on his own with a note saying he was no longer wanted.
Young Artem Savelyev arrived at Moscow airport with the typed note from his adoptive mother which said he was being abandoned after only six months in her care.
Torry-Ann Hansen had admitted to having made a mistake and suggested the boy should be re-housed.
"I no longer wish to parent this child," the unmarried 27-year-old nurse from Tennessee wrote, requesting his adoption be annulled.
She accused the boy's Siberian orphanage of misleading her about Artem's behavioural problems.
Hansen had placed sweets, biscuits and colouring pens in the child's rucksack before checking him onto the 10-hour flight as an unaccompanied minor, reportedly telling him he was going on an "excursion" to Moscow.

Always get to know the kid VERY well before adopting. There shouldn’t be any need for do-overs where adoption is concerned.

My brother adopted 2 children from Korea and had to go through INCREDIBLE process (at his own expense of $20,000 EACH TIME)
seems a bit extreme, political even considering the infrequency of such things. How many Russian children ended up in perfectly good homes I wonder?

I know some would say Russia shouldn’t paint all USA adoptions of Russian kids with the same brush but I don’t blame them
. I am horrified a nurse could do this. I hope she can be charged with something but I don’t think there is any law she broke.
I was going to write something similar. Why is a 27-year-old single woman adopting a young boy anyway? Is that really in the best interest of the child? Where is the father figure who could have shown this boy a firm but loving hand? I understand that people want to help children in need, but really. Some common sense, please.

I would GLADLY give this poor child a home.
The Russian bureacracy moves very slowly in approving adoptions so I’m surprised she didn’t see the little boy a lot before it was approved. Perhaps the “mother” did a good job of greasing the right palms and got things moving quickly.
I’m surprised the Russians would allow a single woman to adopt. It should have to be a couple made up of one man and one woman.
Child Abandonment? That’s a crime.
What was the boy doing? Killing small animals then eating their poop?
Mama was a little bit lazy in her responsibilities to evaluate him.
Russia is actually one of the few countries that allows single parent adoptions. I’m guessing that may change.
How about child abandonment for starters!
