Chris Mclachlin was mentioned as a former basketball coach to the One, and as one who has been quoted in the press about his former pupil. I googled Mclachlin and found several very short references. There was very little insight except for the fact that Barry really wasn’t very good at basketball or with school grades. If anything it made me wonder how Barry developed into the leader of the Free World with not very much from his early life to recommend him. Is there anyone else who can tell stories about his earlier days. Any girl friends, neighbors, etc...?

I remember one time when Hugh Hewitt had Carol Platt Libeaut sit in for him. Sorry for the guess work on the spelling. From my memory, she was one year his junior on the Harvard Law Review. I believe she said that she followed him as the President in the following year. She indicated that most of the staff took their responsilities seriously, almost like a full time job. She said that Barry never wrote an article which was unusual. Getting an article published was considered a perk of having the high position. She also said that Barry was most frequently NOT in the office. He would tell people that he was working at home. She inferred that “working at home” was a euphemism for taking the day off.

Yes, I heard that, too. You have it just about word for word what she said. I agree that he is still a mystery 'man' to just about everyone. There is hardly a politician alive whom we know less about.
