Didn’t the STATE law in Hawaii at the time suggest that children could be born ‘anywhere’, as long as they got to the Big Island within a year to register the birth and apply for a certificate? Like there were other islands and it was difficult to get to the Capitol to register a child, so they gave them a year to come and register a birth?

It wouldn't have been the Big Island, it would have been Oahu (where the capital is located). I don't know how the BC system works in HI, but here in GA you register through the local county - so presumably each island would have a registrar of births.

Another possibility (there are many) is that his mom filed an Amended Certificate of Birth after his adoption by Lolo Soetoro. Once you file an Amended Certificate the old original is destroyed. They might keep an abstract, but that would explain why nobody has seen the long form - an Amended Certificate wouldn't necessarily be a long form, and the old one would have been destroyed.

If he used that birth certificate to apply for, say, foreign student status or scholarship . . . again, that would be a real problem because it would arguably be a waiver of his citizenship.

So many possibilities.

It reminds me of the old MAD Magazine cartoon pointing out that when they bleep out the dirty words on television, each individual thinks of a word far worse than what was originally said.

My grandmother always said, "Tell the truth and shame the devil." I'm inclined to think that even bastardy and the explosion of Obama's ridiculous 'autobiography' would be better than the constant speculation about his parentage and citizenship.
